The Texas Blazers Exellence Fund
The Texas Blazers have a 30 year history of helping students get to UT Austin. Now, we want to extend our impact and help students survive and thrive during their time on the Forty Acres.
THe Need
Food insecurity, hunger and lack of resources are rising issues on the 40 acres.
25% of UT students have experienced food insecurity within the last 30 days.
Over 8,552 meals provided by the UT Outpost to students dealing with food insecurity in the past year.
Lack of stable funds for housing prevents students from pursuing summer professional development opportunities.
Our Solution
Texas Blazers Excellence Fund, an endowment to go beyond scholarships to provide resources for students when and where they need it most. This includes:
Supporting the UT Outpost food pantry to address student food insecurities.
Offering summer housing stipends so students can intern or take classes.
Providing business attire for students while interviewing.
Distributing emergency funds to support students in unexpected obstacles to their education or engagement.
The Texas Blazers Endowed Scholarship
The Texas Blazers have a 30 year history of helping students get to UT Austin. Now, we want to extend our impact and help students survive and thrive during their time on the Forty Acres.
On December 8, 2006 the Texas Blazers officially established the Texas Blazers Endowed Scholarship with the help of the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System. The endowment provides a scholarship to a graduate of Eastside Memorial High School or an East Austin High School who decides to attend The University of Texas at Austin. This endowment was created with the goal of making a college education a more realistic possibility for students around our community. All proceeds and profits from this event go directly to the Texas Blazers Endowed Scholarships. In 2019, we reached the goal of raising $100,000 for the endowment! Now that we have helped students get to UT, we want to extend our impact and help them thrive during their time on the Forty Acres.
Leave a legacy
The Texas Blazers and Alumni Network are raising $425,000 over the next five years to establish the Texas Blazers Excellence Fund. This fund will provide vital resources for UT students with financial needs, to help ensure their continued enrollment and success. Once this fund is established, UT will name the Union Patio after Texas Blazers, which is the very spot where Blazers was founded. More importantly, the Excellence Fund, when coupled with the Texas Blazers Endowed Scholarship, will further the organization’s legacy of helping students remove financial barriers to reach their full potential.
Donations of $2,5000 will be recognized on the donor plaque. To participate, please visit:
